Where do broken hearts and some anguish go?
Some young artist pour them into their music, original compositions to be exact.
All proud of their one-year-old members of the local metal band, Silhouette, are just happy to be "doing their own thing."
This includes coming out with a split debut EP, in only a month’s time. This partnership with another band, Mindfool, features six of their tracks.
AS most debut artist will confirm, its hard work. For Silhouette, perhaps its even double the hard wok, with the undergraduate’s study loads and conflicting schedules.
They made It by scrimping and pooling their allowances. They usually did their howework first, rehearsing before proceeding to the studio so they could economize on the per-hour syudio time.
The result is one heavy sound trip, an offbeat track standing out from the medley of love-struck pop songs that most of their generation would rather hear, a popular entertainment fact that the band has mastered.
Unaffected vocalist Enrie Estevez admits, "We’re not here for popularity contest. Ever since, this genre was never in the mainstream but heavy metal music wont just die anytime soon."
All the labor has been worthn it, with the ressuring pats-in-the-back that the band got in the subsequent reviews. Drummer Axel Florida "After our EP launch, there was a much good feedback. They appreciated the quality and the creativity of both bands on the metal scene here in Cebu have the potential to create that kind of music."
Alive and headbanging rage, especially when playing live for their fellow "metalheads"( a term for the genre’s fans ) in one of their few sanctuaries in Zzubu Rock Bar, the boys in Silhouette play it hard well after midnight for an army of young kindred spirits dressed in black.
With a hell provoking voice alongside heavy guitar riffs makes up most of their performances, which are generally instrumental-heavy and spare with the lyrics.
They say music soothes eveb the beast. Putting to good use their collective teen angst. enrie, the band’s resident composer, leads the group in finding inspiration from crisis by penning song drawn from the not-so-cherry side of life.
Axel shares, "We appreciate many bands, Even though we are into these scene, we listen to all sorts of artist as our influences." For example, while guitarist Cholo Gabisan grew up with an electric guitar and amp (with built-in distortions, he adds), he makes sure he  also gets his fix of orchestra and opera music.
Other things that keep the music playing are an open minded and listening ear.
